Our Story
The Warrior Project was created in loving memory of Courtney Yakimetz, a young mother and wife who passed away from breast cancer in 2021. After being diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer, the financial burden placed upon those impacted by cancer – including families – is too often ignored.

Funds raised through the Warrior Project are provided directly to individuals battling a cancer diagnosis, and their families, to ease some of the financial stress.

Our Warriors
Who Are the "Warriors"?
Warrior Project is honoured to support individuals who have been diagnosed with cancer. They are partners in our effort to provide financial support to those in need, and to raise awareness of the challenges for those diagnosed with late-stage cancers.

Over the past three years, we have had the privilege of supporting individuals who fit this profile – Kristina, Jon, Erin, Elliott, and Landon. We are forever grateful to have been part of their journey, and for the impact they've had on us. This year's fundraising event on June 15, 2025 will support three warriors: Trish, Martie, and Garrett.
How Are Funds Raised?
Fundraising is completely grassroots, with donations made by individuals (such as those who provide support through our website), as well as through our annual fundraising events.

Our 3rd annual Warrior Project fundraising event will be held on June 14, 2025! Tickets can be purchased at the event link above.

Additional donations can be made through the donation form above, or by contacting the Warrior Project team directly at info@warriorprojectfund.ca
Advocacy
It is important to all those involved in Warrior Project that a significant amount of effort is put not only into providing financial support to our Warriors, but also to raising the level of awareness surrounding the challenges faced by those fighting late-stage cancers. As part of this, we actively advocate for improved supports, while sharing the stories of those impacted by those obstacles.
